Kimberley Threadgill CFP®, CDFA® explains why education, empathy and advanced planning are central to serving complex, high-net-worth clients and women in transition.

Tipping Point

Kimberley’s perspective on wealth management was shaped by personal experience. Watching her family navigate the oil bust of the 1980s and later experiencing a divorce herself transformed the way she viewed financial independence.

“I was a professional woman with two young girls, but I did not lean into finance before my divorce. I thought I knew about finance, but not enough to make prudent investment decisions.”

That experience became the catalyst for her career as a financial advisor. Determined to help others make informed financial decisions before life’s unexpected challenges arise, Kimberley committed herself to continuous education.

She earned her Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) through studies at The University of Georgia Terry School of Business and later acquired the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®) designation, expanding her expertise in helping clients navigate complex financial transitions.

Early Financial Career

Kimberley began her career as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley, where she built her practice from the ground up.

“When I joined Morgan Stanley, I worked solo for years…no inherited book of business nor referrals within a team. What I did have was a commitment to serving my community and continually investing in my own education.”

Beyond her formal training, she attended fiduciary law conferences and investment seminars at her own expense, recognizing that providing exceptional advice stems from knowledge.

She later joined a team responsible for managing more than $2 billion in client assets, serving on the investment committee and deepening her expertise in portfolio management and investment strategy.

Kimberley expanded her capabilities further at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, where she advised ultra-high-net-worth families and business owners, gaining extensive experience in lending strategies and comprehensive wealth management for clients with layered entities and multi-generational wealth.

Her passion for learning, and her desire to work in the financial capital of the United States, ultimately brought her to New York City, where she now lives and practices.

SAM Wealth Management

Today, Kimberley serves as Senior Wealth Manager at Stansberry Asset Management (SAM), a boutique SEC-registered investment advisory firm specializing in wealth management for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.

She serves as a fiduciary overseeing more than $320 million in client assets under management. Her expertise spans portfolio management, investment strategy, tax-efficient wealth planning, estate planning and multi-generational financial planning.

Stansberry Asset Management is an SEC-registered investment adviser offering proprietary, actively managed investment strategies and alternative investments for accredited investors. The firm’s investment team conducts in-depth research to identify investment opportunities while emphasizing downside protection through active portfolio management.

Kimberley also speaks nationally to investors and fellow advisors on financial planning topics, sharing insights on legislative changes, tax planning strategies, estate planning considerations and best practices for preserving wealth across generations.

Investment Approach

Kimberley believes that soft skills are a critical tool for advising clients, and that these skills are not always applied to client discussions.

When advising clients, she asks herself a simple but powerful question:

“What if this were me?”

That perspective shapes every recommendation she makes.

Working with high-net-worth families requires understanding complex ownership structures, business interests, trusts, charitable giving strategies and the dynamics of multi-generational wealth.

Kimberley places particular emphasis on cash flow analysis as the foundation of effective investment and tax planning, helping clients understand how various income sources influence their overall financial picture.

Her firm also leverages AI-driven technology to analyze tax returns and uncover additional planning opportunities that may otherwise be overlooked.

Helping Women Navigate Financial Transitions

One of Kimberley’s greatest passions is helping women prepare for, and successfully navigate, major life transitions.

Whether facing divorce, widowhood, or the incapacity of a spouse, many women find themselves making complex financial decisions while simultaneously managing significant emotional stress.

Questions surrounding investment income, tax-efficient withdrawal strategies, account ownership, beneficiary designations and estate planning often become urgent at precisely the moment they feel least prepared. Kimberley believes these conversations should begin well before a crisis occurs.

By creating a thoughtful financial plan in advance, clients can approach life’s inevitable transitions with greater confidence, clarity and peace of mind.

Her message is simple: financial education creates financial confidence. The sooner women engage with a trusted advisor, the better prepared they will be to make informed decisions for themselves and their families, regardless of what the future may hold.
